About TECNO: The Base
TECNO: The Base is a first-person shooter that blends exploration, puzzle-solving, and tactical combat in a high-tech facility gripped by crisis. Drawing inspiration from classics like System Shock, the game emphasizes environmental storytelling and intelligent level design—making you think as much as you shoot.
You play as two base employees: Alexia and Mika Rietvell, caught in the aftermath of a catastrophic lab accident. The narrative unfolds across multiple missions where you alternate between both characters, each offering a unique vantage point on the same unfolding disaster. Switching perspectives lets you gather clues with one character and apply them to solve challenges facing the other, deepening your understanding of the facility and the events that triggered chaos.
Progression hinges on solving puzzles scattered throughout each area. These challenges are non-linear—you can tackle them in different orders, adapting your approach to fit your playstyle. You'll decode digital files to find access codes, scan data under time pressure, activate temporary environmental effects, and navigate physics-based obstacles. Every puzzle reinforces the sense of moving through a functional, lived-in technical complex rather than a video game playground. The investigative gameplay and brain-teasing design sustain engagement across hours of exploration.
Combat demands strategy over aggression. Your arsenal includes machine guns, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, and laser accelerators—all distinctly futuristic. Enemy robots remain dangerous even after taking heavy damage, forcing you to prioritize positioning, ammunition conservation, and tactical decision-making. Direct firepower alone won't carry you; you must outthink your opponents and adapt to each encounter.
The experience rewards curiosity and careful observation. Story details emerge through environmental clues, character interactions, and the interplay between puzzle-solving and combat encounters. You're not simply clearing rooms; you're reconstructing events and uncovering the truth behind the accident through active participation.
